Description
The commercial court of Compiègne (Oise) has agreed the takeover of the Société Ardennaise Industrielle at Revin (Ardennes) by the group Delta Dore. The new owner will keep only 24 employees out of 181. Therefore, 157 employees will be dismissed. The remaining employees will work on a production line of electric motors for roller shutters.
The plant formely belonged to Electrolux which employed about 1,000 people there in the 80'. The plant produced washing machine but Electrolux decided in 2005 to transfer production to Poland. Since then the production has declined and numerous positions were progressively cut. In 2014, Electrolux sold the plant to Selni and agreed with the new owner to provide new production equipements and to order a fixed level of products. But, according to the unions, the new equipments were defective, so workers couldn't meet the quality requirements of Electrolux which stopped its orders. Therefore, the employees' representative are going to court, asking Electrolux to pay for a social plan and to offer higher dismissal allowances.
