Description

Johnson Tiles, a manufacturer of ceramics tiles, has announced plans to cut 50 jobs at its site in Tunstall, Stoke on Trent. The business currently employs around 310 employees, though twelve months previously the headcount had stood at 400. The latest redundancies are the result of lower than expected levels of demand for the company's products. There is no information as to when the job losses will take effect, though the company has stated that it has started the statutory 30 day consultation period with affected employees. A local MP has been called on the consultation process to examine ways of reducing redundancies and ensuring that as many of these high skilled jobs are retained in the area.
