Description
The international aerospace industry company Airbus is to cut 850 jobs in Spain, the most of them (530 out of 2,600) in its two factories located in Seville (Andalucia). Further 320 jobs ,out of 6,900, will be also cut in the three divisions located in Madrid. This restructuring is due to the slowdown in production of the A400M and A380 in Andalucia, due to a lack of new orders. Trade unions have rejected these proposals as they consider that this restructuring is only a starting point and they argue the military projects have excessive weight, proposing to focus more on new civil aircraft projects, such as the A350.
Update 23/07/2018: Airbus has announced the reduction of 800 jobs in its plants in Spain (50 less than expected), out of a total of 3,700 in its different European factories. The company has announced this workforce reduction will be carried out in consultation with unions and with support measures for those affected.
