Description

Plans have been confirmed to reduce jobs by 260 at Derbyshire County Council. The news follows the decision to make savings of 12 million GBP (EUR 13.9 million) in the next financial year and to raise council tax by 4.99%. The move, which has been seen in many local authorities, following changes to central government grants, suggested that job cuts would follow, and this latest announcement confirms this. The council has stressed that it will consider compulsory redundancies only when all other options for downsizing have been considered. The cuts are set to take effect during the 2018-2019 financial year.
