Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Duro Felguera, international business group with headquarters in Gijón (Asturias) and specialised in the execution of projects for the energy and industrial sectors and the manufacture of capital goods, has announced a downward adjustment of the workforce of 400 jobs out of the 2,000 workers employed by the company in Spain. Although it has not been specified how many workers could be affected, the company plans are to reduce labour costs by 20 percent through dismissals. The management has urged to workers representatives to set up the bargaining committee within 15 days to start the consultation period.
