Description
On 2 March 2018, the German automotive supplier Continental plans to cut 300 jobs in Roding and relocate 260 of these jobs overseas. The works council strongly opposes such plans, as production in Roding is running at maximum capacity. Management, however, argues that the site in Roding does not have a competitive cost structure and intends to implement the job reduction measurement. A timeframe has yet to be announced, since management and works council have not started negotiations.
Continental promised a socially acceptable job reduction including early retirement programmes and transfer offers.
Currently Continental has 800 employees at its site in Roding.
