Description
High Street restaurant chain Jamie's Italian, owned by TV chef Jamie Oliver, has announced that it intends to close twelve of its outlets which will result in the loss of around 200 jobs. The decision is part of a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) which will allow the remaining 25 restaurants to continue to trade as normal for now. The business has been under pressure for some time with six restaurants closing in 2017. As well as competition from other businesses, the chain has been affected by the fall in value of Sterling, making imported goods from Italy more expensive. The affected employees are currently in the consultation process with the business going on record to state that it would seek to redeploy individuals wherever possible.
