Description

Debenhams department store has announced plans to cut 320 store management roles. The move follows poor sales figures over Christmas, which have been attributed to competition from online businesses. The proposed changes will mean that around one quarter of store management roles will be removed, and the decision to simplify management structures follows similar restructuring which has been seen in other parts of the retail sector. A spokesperson for Debenhams commented that consultation was underway and they would seek to redeploy individuals wherever possible, and that the changes would be complete by the end of March 2018.
