Poultry producer 2 Sisters Food Group has announced plans to close 3 of its sites in Smethwick, Wolverhampton and Cambuslang which will result in the loss of a total of 900 jobs, with the sites accounting for 350, 100 and 450 jobs respectively. The company has also announced plans to create 1,000 new jobs. These are 300 jobs in Willand, Devon, 250 jobs in Coupar Angus, 35 jobs in Llangefni, 30 jobs in Scunthorpe and up to 400 jobs in West Bromwich.
The sites set for closure are reported to be loss-making and statutory consultation rules will apply.

It has been announced that, following consultation, the Wolverhampton site, which had been earmarked for closure, has been saved. The announcement means that all 100 jobs at the site will continue. There has been no update on the restructuring plans which affect the other sites in the group.
