Metro Bank has announced plans to create 900 new jobs throughout 2018. The bank plans to open 12 new branches, reportedly concentrating its expansion outside of London. The bank added around 500 jobs in 2017, and its fortunes are in stark contrast with its high street competitors. Around 100 of these positions will be for apprentices who will be trained through the bank's own training facility which received its accreditation in 2017. Metro Bank first opened in the UK in 2010 and by the end of 2017 had 55 branches. It is known for its novel approach to opening hours, being shut only on Christmas Day, Easter Sunday and New Year's Day, and also its dog-friendly stance.
