Description
South Korean Samsung will close its Slovakian plant, Samsung Electronics LCD, based in Voderady in spring 2018. The Voderady plant started the production of LCD modules 10 years ago, when Samsung intended to create around 1,200 new jobs there. Currently, around 700 workers are employed Voderady and 200 of them will be made redundant. Part of the production lines, on which around 500 staff are employed, will be relocated to Samsung's plant in Galanta in Slovakia. Jobs for the affected staff in Galanta will be offered under the same conditions.
According to the compliance manager of Samsung Electronics Slovakia, organisational changes are aimed at the more effective management of Samsung's production in Slovakia. Major works should be carried out in June and July 2018 at the closed plant. Empty premises will be offered for rent to other companies.
