The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Norwegian telecommunication company Telenor is cutting 115 full time jobs in Norway, mainly in the IT section. The cuts are part of a larger restructuring effort related to the digitalisation of the company and its customer service. The restructuring process is on-going, and the aim of the company is to cut 6,000 jobs worldwide within 2020, 750 of which in Norway. The downsizing will take place partly through retirements and partly through dismissals. The trade union El & IT (affiliated with the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions - LO) has expressed concerns that the scope of downsizing is too big, premature and that it will negatively affect the working environment in the rest of the company.
