European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The management of the newspaper El Períodico, edited by the group Zeta, has announced a restructuring plan aiming to cut human resources costs by 45%. This will entail an employment adjustment in the newspaper similar to those applied in other companies of the group such as the sport newspaper 'Sport' or the magazines 'Tiempo' e 'Interviú'. According to the newspaper El Español, the measure will affect 170 workers and most of the dismissals (100) will affect staff from editorial department. The company has not provided yet definitive figures of workers affected but has announced that it is considering alternative measures to dismissals such as voluntary departures.
