Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The DIY retailer B & Q has announced it will cut 200 jobs at its head office in Chandler's Ford, near Eastleigh in Hampshire. A spokesperson for the company stated that the changes are necessary in order to improve efficiency and deliver simpler ways of working, and are part of wider changes across the Kingfisher group. The timeframe for the job losses has yet to be announced, though it is understood that the statutory consultation period between the company and the employees' representatives, the National People's Forum, is already underway.
