Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Coca-Cola Bulgaria announced the creation of 130 new jobs at its new IT development centre in Sofia. Reportedly, the main areas of activity will be software solutions for system analysis and program development, data analysis, mobile applications, training, robotics, infrastructure and information security, as well as technological solutions for marketing, financial and technical functions of the company. The unit is part of Coca-Cola's global information technology structure, which includes five development centres in the US, Mexico, India, Singapore and Japan. The development centre in Sofia will be the second largest for the volume of services and the number of employees within this global network.
Coca Cola production launched in Plovdiv in 1965, making Bulgaria the first country in the ex-socialist block to bottle the product. In 1992 the company opened an office in Bulgaria and in 1996 production began in Kostinbrod. As of January 2018, the company has two production centres (the second one is in Bankya) and seven distribution centres in the country.
The company has an employee base of 19,900 in Bulgaria (0.6% of the labour force).
