The Hungarian budget-airline Wizz Air announced that it start operating from the airport in Vienna, Austria as of June 2018, which is set to create up to 120 new jobs. Wizz Air will start with three aeroplanes to serve cities in Eastern Europe as well as popular holiday destinations in Italy, Spain and Greece that were formerly serviced by Air Berlin and the insolvent airline Niki (as Eurofound has reported previously). The airline is currently looking for pilots as well as flight attendants.

Wizz Air expands not only to Austria but has also invested in business expansion in several other countries in Europe, such as Romania (Eurofound report on expansion in Romania). The company is planing to triple the overall number of aeroplanes, passengers and employees in the next nine years.
