Description

The Swedish furniture and household goods company IKEA plans to open a store in Stopini, around eight kilometers east from Riga. The store will open in fall 2018, and will create 300–400 new jobs.

In March 2017, IKEA started to build the company's management team for the operation in Latvia with an announcement of 13 new jobs. According to the jobs portal cv.lv, eight job advertisements were published on the portal on 28 December 2017. The company is looking for several department heads, warehouse workers, supply and maintenance managers, IT specialists, carpenters and others. IKEA plans to invest EUR 60 million in the store.

On 31 January 2017 the representative of IKEA and the mayor of Riga signed an agreement on planned support by the local authority for the launch of the first IKEA store in Latvia, which involves adjustments to transport infrastructure.
