Description
Burgess Marine, the maritime engineering company, has entered administration which will result in the loss of 102 jobs. The firm which is based in Dover has closed sites at Devonport, Southampton, Porchester and Portsmouth. Parts of the business in Avonmouth, Lowestoft and Poole have been sold, which has saved 45 jobs. In addition to this some subsidiaries have also been sold to Southampton Marine Services which will also protect jobs. Four staff have been kept on at the Dover site to assist with the ending up of the business.
