The Dutch branch of Office Depot International in Venlo, Limburg (South Netherlands), specialising in the sale of office furniture and supplies, announced in April 2017 that it would ask 430 of its workers to reapply for their jobs, after which 70 positions would be cut. The re-organization follows the company's acquisition by a new owner The job reductions are the result of internal reorganisation after the company's takeover in spring 2017. It is not yet known where the job cuts will be concentrated, but some are expected to fall within the company's call centre.
Office Depot in Venlo employs approximately 650 workers as of April 2017. The company has subsidiaries in Belgium, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Slovakia, Spain, Czech, Switzerland and Sweden.
