Description

As announced on 13 December 2017, Carlsberg will be cutting 70 jobs as part of the relocation of the Holsten-brewery from Hamburg-Altona to Hausbruch. This means that a third of the employees working in production and logistics will have to be let go. Carlsberg argues, that there is no alternative to a relocation, as consumption of the beer produced in Holsten has decreased and the production site in Altona (86,000 square metres) is too large compared with the new, smaller site in Hausbruch (67,000 square metres). Furthermore, Carlsberg will be investing €100 million in its new production site in Hausbruch.

Negotiations regarding a social plan between management, works council and the Trade Union of Food, Beverages, Tobacco, Hotel and Catering and Allied Workers (NGG) are still ongoing. A timeframe for the job reduction has yet to be announced.

Carlsberg has 450 employees at its production site in Altona and 46.000 employees worldwide.
