Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The telecommunication company Orange Poland (former TP – Polish Telecom) has announced that it will cut up to 2,680 jobs through voluntary dismissal programme. The programme will be operational in 2018 and 2019, and it is expected that up to 1,450 positions will be cut in the first year of the programme. The conditions of the programme were negotiated with the local trade unions. According to the agreement, redundant employees will receive severance pay according to seniority level. The redundancy packages will be worth between PLN 5,000 and PLN 26,000 (EUR 6,088). In 2016 1,030 employees were covered by a voluntary dismissal programme at Orange Poland.
