Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dutch travel e-commerce company Booking.com plans to open a customer service centre in Vilnius in April 2018 and to create around 200 new jobs by the end of 2018. The company will hire specialists with specific linguistic skill sets (Russian, German, Polish, English, etc.). The Vilnius centre will be the ninth customer service centre in Europe and the seventeenth worldwide. According to the management, the number of employees in the Vilnius centre is expected to grow to 900 within four to five years.
Booking.com belongs to the Priceline Group. Currently the company employs more than 15,000 employees in 198 offices in 70 countries worldwide.
