Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
American online retailer Amazon has announced that it will create over 1,000 jobs at its newly opened distribution centre in Kołbaskowo near Szczecin. The unit, with a space of 150,000 sq m and 3,000 robots, is worth PLN 410 million (EUR 96.80 million USD 114.17 million).
Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce company, with headquarters in Seattle, US, currently employs around 541,600 employees worldwide. Amazon has been operating in Poland since 2014. In Poland the company has three distribution centres (Poznań and two units in Bielany Wrocławskie near Wrocław), Amazon Development Centre in Gdańsk and Amazon Web Services in Warsaw. Amazon Poland employs approximately 6,000 people.
