Description
The acquisition of the German shipping company Hamburg Süd by the Danish shipping company Maersk in spring 2018 will lead to the cut 131 of 1015 jobs in Hamburg. Maersk announced that Hamburg Süd will continue to operate on its own, however, costs will be reduced in the operative sector such as logistics and networks. Furthermore, management announced that there will be 19 new job openings. Details regarding these new vacancies have yet to be announced.
Hamburg Süd has 4,500 employees on land and 1,500 employees operating container ships, most of which work on the company's main route between Europe and South America.
