Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Wanzl Czech Republic, a manufacturer of transport containers, has invested around CZK 200 million (EUR 7.7 million) in expanding its production plant in Hněvotín where it will create 140 new jobs. The new production hall will be fully effective by the end of April 2018. Czech subsidiary, which currently employs about 350 people, produces transport containers, carts, pallet extensions, and wire preforms for the production of shopping trolleys and baskets. In the following years, all European wire mesh production for the production of Wanzl shopping carts will be concentrated in Hněvotín. The site was chosen due to the fact that it offers a very good cost/distance ratio to the main customers.
The Wanzl Group, headquartered in Germany, is the world's largest manufacturer of shopping trolleys and luggage trolleys, with an annual production totalling over three million per year. The Wanzl Group employs approximately 4,900 people in 27 branches and sales offices around the world. Besides the Czech Republic, the firm operates 13 manufacturing plants in Germany, France, China, USA, Canada, Britain and the Czech Republic.
