Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Spółdzielnia Mleczarska Polmlek-Maćkowy (a dairy cooperative), a subsidiary of Polmlek group, has announced that it will cut all of 208 jobs via collective dismissal programme at the facility in Gdańsk by the end of 2017. According to the decision of the company board, the unit will be closed down and machinery assets will be sold or relocated to the group’s units in Maków Mazowiecki and Raciąż. The conditions of the programme are being negotiated with the local trade unions.
The dairy cooperative was founded in 1980 and it has been one of the biggest dairy company in the region; it has been a part of Polmlek group since 2007. Polmlek group is the third largest dairy company in Poland; currently, it employs over 3,000 people in 8 facilities.
