Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The biggest British car maker, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), will establish its first plant in Nitra, Slovakia, where it will create about 2,800 new jobs till the end of 2018. It is assumed that the operation of the company will lead to creation of further 22,000 jobs in its supply chain in Slovakia and abroad. On 2 October, the Company started with the recruitment of the first 1,000 employees out of which 800 are production workers. The company aims to hire these 1,000 workers until the end of March 2018. The plant will produce about 150,000 Land Rover Discovery vehicles per year. JLR Slovakia is the fourth car producer in Slovakia (in addition to VW, KIA and PSA) that will further increase the demand for qualified workforce in the automotive industry. The average salary of workers in JLR Slovakia would range from €900 to 1,800 per month.
