Description

The Swedish state-owned railway company SJ is hiring 500 people, out of which around 225 as locomotive drivers and around 300 as train attendants. The recruitment campaign will run from 2017 to 2019, with over 200 new employees needed already in 2017. Both experienced professionals and new graduates are welcome, as SJ provides its staff with in-company training. Personnel is recruited in 17 towns across the country: in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Linköping, Malmö, Karlstad, Västerås, Eskilstuna, Hallsberg, Sundsvall, Falun, Borlänge, Gävle, Luleå, Fagersta, Umeå, Östersund and Kalmar.

The need for new staff is due to increasing demand for train travel. SJ reports an increase of 10% in the past five years, and expects the figure to keep rising. In addition to the 500 jobs announced now, SJ predicts it will need around 100 new employees annually after 2019.
