Description

The Austrian sports retailer Intersport, with headquarters in Wels (Upper Austria),has announced it will open fourteen new stores in Austria by the end of 2017, creating 300 new jobs. Investments of up to €30 million will predominantly focus on stores in Vienna, Upper Austria and Tyrol.

With this business expansion, Intersport prepares for the arrival of a new competitor in the Austrian sports retail sector as the Norwegian retailer XXL will open two flagship stores in Vienna this fall. The Austrian market is considered to be especially attractive for investors as per-capita expenditures for sports equipment is relatively high.
