European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Iberia is going to implement an employment adjustment plan that will affect 955 workers. The company plans to implement the measure through voluntary dismissals. The airline has notified the working committees of the different professional groups of its restructuring plan with a view to start a negotiation process. Employees’ representatives will have one week since the notification to set up the bargaining commission. The company has not specified the professional groups to be affected by the measure yet. However, the director of Iberia has already informed that the maintenance area and the central offices will be the areas most affected. In the last years, Iberia has dismissed more than 5000 workers (see 2012, 2014, 2016).

Iberia has notified the trade unions of its intention to implement an employment adjustment that will affect 895 workers: 715 ground workers, 170 crew workers and 70 pilots. The company aims to implement dismissals on a voluntary basis through early retirement schemes, voluntary departures and relocations. The company has shared this information with the bargaining commission representing the workers during the first meeting of the negotiation process. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 29 August. At that meeting, trade unions will be able to present their proposals on the basis of the information provided by the company. The negotiation process will last one month. Overall, the different trade unions represented at the bargaining table agree on the need to guarantee that dismissals are implemented on a voluntary basis.
