Description

As announced on 7 August 2017, representatives of the automotive supplier Dura and its works council failed to reach an agreement regarding the cut of 227 out of 800 employees in Plettenberg, Finnentrop and Kirchhundem. According to Dura, job reductions are necessary for the company to remain competitive.

Negotiations for a social plan started in 2015 and have been unsuccessful. Talks stalled in July 2017 when the works council rejected the offered severance payment of €6,000 per employee.

The German Metalworkers’ Union expects that many of the 227 employees will take legal actions concerning their termination.
