Description

Aromatika announced the dismissal of 151 employees and the closure of 48 perfumery stores located in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto.

The company is part of the Gottardo group, which owns other retail chains operating about 500 stores in the country.

Aromatika acquired the stores one year ago from Dayli, a perfumery chain going bankrupt. Yet, the stores are still performing substantial losses.

Unions lament the group did not implement the announced investments. They are currently taking part in negotiations and hope the the number of closures will be reviewed downwards and workers will be relocated to other stores.

Update, 29/07/2015: An agreement has been reached with the unions. 18 stores will remain open and 41 workers will be relocated to other companies, including some that are part of the Gottardo group. The other 110 redundant workers will be put on a short-time working scheme for one year. In the meantime, Aromatika will look for other potential investors, while workers will be offered incentives for voluntary dismissals.
