Description

Luxury tailoring group Eugenio Tombolini is to dismiss all its 148 employees at its sites in Urbigaglia (Macerata).

The decision stems from the negative conclusion of an insolvency proceeding concerning the firm and daughter company Tombolini Industrie  following complaints of unpaid contributions by the National Institute of Social Security.

The Tribunal of Macerata eventually ruled the stoppage of production, deeming Eugenio Tombolini and Tombolini Industrie unable to pay their debts, and highlighting additional elements, including the non-conformity of equipment with minimum safety standards. As a result, the affected workers are to lose their job.

The company appealed against the decision, arguing it partially paid back its debts and has consistent orders.

The management is also discussing options with unions with a view to continuing the activities.
