Description
On 2 June 2017, the gases and engineering company Linde announced it would cut 950 jobs in Germany. This figure was a significant reduction from planned cuts of 2,000 jobs announced in October 2016. Furthermore, the company offered guarantees of employment to remaining staff until 2021. Linde's plant in Dresden, which the company planned to close, will now remain open. Linde has begun merger proceedings with the US-company Praxair. However, antitrust concerns have not yet been ruled out. Trade unions and worker representatives are opposed to the merger as they fear larger job cuts in the future. There are no exact plans available for the implementation of the job cuts.
As of June 2017, Linde employs about 8,000 people in Germany and 59,715 staff worldwide.
