Description

The Danish government's choice of the Lockheed Martin F-35 (Joint Strike Fighter) as Denmark's new combat plane is to create between 130 and 140 new jobs at Terma Aerostructures in Grenaa, Jutland. This was announced 30 March 2017 by Terma. Most of the new jobs are for unskilled workers or industrial technicians. During the last year Terma has hired 75 new employees and it is aiming to have 500 employees at the factory in around two years time.

It has been reported that the local department of the union of skilled and unskilled workers, United Federation of Danish Workers, 3F, does not enough available members to fill all the new positions. However, 120 kilometres west of Grenaa, 400 employees will shortly be without jobs when Siemens Wind Power closes the factory in Engesvang in the summer of 2017. Potentially, some of these dismissed workers could apply for the jobs at Terma.
