Description

High street retailer Marks & Spencer has announced plans to close six of its existing stores with the loss of 380 jobs. Four of its 'full line' shops in Portsmouth, Slough, Warrington and Wokingham will shut along with two food outlets in York and Worksop. The company has pledged to relocate existing staff at these sites to other nearby stores. In addition to the store closures Marks & Spencer will also open 36 new stores over a six month period, resulting in 1,400 jobs. Thirty-four stores will be food only and two will be full line.
