Takata Sachsen, subsidiary of the Japanese automotive supplier Takata announced to cut 150 jobs in Döbeln and Freiberg (both in Saxony). According to the management, this step is necessary due to decreased demand for its airbag inflators as a result of a worldwide product recall in 2015.
Takata Sachsen wants to avoid compulsory redundancies and therefore will reduce staff members among those with fixed-term contracts as well as temporary agency workers. Permanent employees will be able to switch to the nearby site in Elterlein (also in Saxony). The company is also reorganising their production line towards a newer generation of gas generators.
Takata Sachsen currently employs 740 staff members at three sites in Saxony, Germany.
