Description

The consortium Rosace will deploy 13,000 kilometers of optical fiber in the two departments of the former Alsace region (included since 1 January 2016 in the region Grand Est) over the next five years in the framework of a public-private partnership. Within the consortium, the telecommunication company NGE who employs already 70 people, expects to recruit employees in the next three years.

Since November 2016, the company has also opened a vocational training centre in Strasbourg to train around 100 people every year in optical fibbers, from the realisation of networks to the connection of homes or businesses. 500 jobs should be created in the framework of this multi-year project in Alsace. New employees are hired at the beginning of their training, which lasts six weeks, and for the vast majority, will integrate the NGE teams, and some workers fom another company involved in the project.  The contract between the Region Grand Est and Rosace stipulates that at least 15% of the full-time equivalent positions should be reserved for people with disabilities.

Over the next five years, the whole territory will be covered by high speed broadband. Today, there are 700 Alsatian municipalities waiting for coverage (the big agglomerations are already covered) for an investment of EUR 480 million.
