Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
EMIS Health, the UK-based company which develops healthcare software and provides business services to health and social care providers, has announced that it will be cutting 100 jobs. Redundancy consultations with affected staff are underway. In their report on final results for the year 2016, the EMIS Group reported strong profits and outlined a major restructuring process that is already underway. In the reorganisation, three operating units are to be combined into one, in order to save costs and align the activities of the company with the shift towards more integration with the UK’s National Health Service.
