Description

McLaren, the luxury car manufacturer, has announced plans to open a new production facility in Sheffield in a move which will create 200 jobs. The facility is being supported by a GBP 50 million (€59 million) investment supported by Sheffield Council. The facility will be based at the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), and will develop and manufacture carbon chassis for road cars. Trial production at the facility will begin later in 2017 with full production expected to start from 2020. The move has been welcomed by representatives of Sheffield Council and the Local Enterprise Partnership.
