Description

Bpost, the Belgian postal service has announced the dismissal of 200 external IT consultants and the offshore-outsourcing of the positions to India. Bpost management states that the outsourcing is necessary to reduce costs. Unions are shocked by the decision, especially considering Bpost recently placed a bid of €2.55 billion for the Dutch postal company PostNL. 200 internal IT experts remain active within the company. They will focus more on external tasks, including the training of the Indian consultants. Telecom minister Alexander De Croo has requested more information from the Bpost management.
