Description
Clothing store American Apparel has announced that it will close 12 of its 13 UK stores with the loss of 150 jobs. The US based company which was placed into administration in November 2016 has been taken over by Gildan Activewear, a Canadian T-shirt manufacturer, though the buyer does not want to operate the company's 230 worldwide stores. At present 31 staff at the company's head office and remaining retail outlet in Camden, North London will be retained, though it is uncertain what will happen to these jobs over the longer term.
