Description
Lidl supermarkets has announced plans for a major new expansion which will create around 5,000 new jobs. The company, which has rapidly increased its market share in recent times, will open 250 new stores in London and will double its existing number of stores to 1,500. A new headquarters will also be created in South West London, and around 450 staff will move there from the current headquarters. The new jobs will become available over a three year period. The announcement of this GBP 1.5 billion (€1.7 billion) investment is seen as a major commitment from Lidl to the UK following the vote to leave the European Union.
