Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Medical technology company Becton Dickinson (BD) is create 100 new jobs at its 'centre of excellence' plant at the National Technology Park in Co Limerick, on the back of a new €21 million investment. The new jobs are in research and development roles. BD specialises in medical technology, diagnostics, medical research and health care management. The company already employs 100 people at its site Limerick, and 600 people in Ireland in total. BD's research and development 'centre of excellence' is to involve work in microbiology and molecular biology, clinical and cellular research analysis, and industrial microbiology.
