Description

Call centre operator 3G Human Technology is to dismiss at least 197 workers at the sites of Sulmona, near L’Aquila (91) and Campobasso (106). Reportedly the high number of dismissals is also linked to recent court rulings obliging the company to reinstate about 30 workers unfairly dismissed. The number of dismissals might increase over the next weeks. According to media sources, the company intends to open a collective dismissal procedure for another 51 workers employed at the headquarters in Rome.

The company currently employs about 1,200 workers in Italy and it has been undergoing a long period of crisis, reporting significant budget losses. Over the last years, 3G Human Technology has made recourse to social shock absorbers and implemented collective dismissals. Unions pointed to the need for national law provisions tackling the collapse of the sector and delocalisation.
