Description
Broadcaster Sky is planning to close nearly one quarter of its UK stores; 170 jobs are at risk of being lost. The retail part of the operation currently comprises 260 stores throughout the UK employing around 850 staff. Under the plans 60 stores will be closed, with unprofitable stores and stores close to one another being the first to be closed. Sky has said that the decision to restructure its retail department has not been affected by the EU referendum result and the subsequent decline in advertising; the conclusion follows an ongoing review of the business. It is not yet known when the store closures and job losses will take effect.
