Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Selkirk based energy supplier Spark Energy has announced plans to add 69 new jobs. The fast growing company made the announcement at the launch event for its new in-house training centre, which was officially opened by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. Spark Energy opened in 2007 and is a major employer in the Scottish Borders, with 348 staff already employed. When the new jobs are added, the total head count will be 417. The company specialises in providing gas and electricity to private rental and social housing clients. It is being reported that the company expects that the new positions will be filled by the summer of 2017.
