Description

The management of the textile retailer Grain de Malice has announced a restructuring plan that will lead to cut 177 positions (188 according to the unions) on a total workforce of 531 employees. About one-third of the job cut will affect the headquarter in Tourcoing (Nord) and two-third will result of the closure of about 39 shops and 2 discount shops.  Only the logistic services at Neuville-en-Ferrain (Nord) and Avesnes-le-Comte (Pas-de-Calais) will not be affected. According to the management, the company has been incurring for several years and it is time to reorganise the company to restore its competitiveness. Last June the company moved to a new headquarter with 100 employees and announced an increase of its workforce up to 250 employees in the coming years. But the owners have decided to change the manager and entrust the management to a consultancy firm with the aim to redress its economic and financial situation. The unions disagree with this decision.
