European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Minister of Health announced the establishment of 200 new teams in the public primary health care sector. The Croatian Health Insurance Fund (Hrvatski zavod za zdravstveno osiguranje, HZZO) believes that there is a need to improve the quality of health care by employing 200 new medical doctors. The new recruits will help reduce pressure on existing health care teams. In Croatia there are currently 2,340 general practitioners and according to data from the Croatian General Practice/Family Medicine Coordination (Koordinacija hrvatske obiteljske medicine, KoHOM), every doctor performs 25 to 30 exams daily, and 60 to 80 various procedures linked to the patients’ needs. In rural regions the workload is even bigger. General practitioners have long warned about the danger of the situation, as the heavy workload jeopardises the quality of health care services. Lowering the number of patients per doctor should improve the quality and accessibility of health care in Croatia.
