Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The telecoms network installer Scopelec (2,750 employees in France) has announced the recruitment of 300 people in 2016 further to a recruitment of 300 employees in 2015. The company, a cooperative owned at 68% by its employees, is facing an increase of activities related to governmental plan to deploy the high speed Internet network through optical fibre across France by 2022.
The cooperative, created in 1967 in Revel, near Toulouse, reached a turnover of EUR 370 million in 2016 compared to EUR 32 million ten years ago.
